STUDENT AREA

This part of our website is dedicated to showcasing some of the fabulous work the children in Ardmore School do. Whether it's a visual arts project, a writing excercise, a sporting achievement or whatever, here's where you'll find it. We hope that as this website grows, then this section will be filled with interesting and varied material.

Oils on Canvas

This fantastic collection of bright and colourful oil paintings on stretched canvas squares was completed by the children of the school to mark the opening of the new extention in 2009.

The children were helped throughout the project by local artist Brigid Shelly who donated the canvasses.   She encouraged and oversaw all aspects of what has become a distinctive and eye-catching backdrop in the school's central hall.

We love the excitement and vivacity of this artwork and we definitely think we have a few budding Andy Warhols in our midst!

Local History and Myth with Michael Fortune

Last year the children from third to sixth classes were involved in a local history project.  Mick Fortune, who was part sponsored by the heritage in schools council, was the cordinater of this project.  Fifth and sixth classes researched local ghost stories, heritage sites in the locality and local traditions.  Third and fourth classes researched homes in the past and local history and culture.  Valuable learning took place and the children really enjoyed gaining insight into life in our parish in bygone times.
